So, where are we heading for this lesson?
This lesson introduces and provides an overview of the five key aspects of the theme insights focused: taking an open-minded approach to understanding organisational issues and their root causes; acquiring multiple sources of evidence; objectively analysing and evaluating multiple sources of evidence; developing and improving the quality of ideas; and identifying themes and connections to gain insights.
We'll illustrate each of the five key aspects with scenarios for which our topic expert practitioner will provide insights. We also introduce a ‘6A’ approach that we use throughout this course: Asking; Acquiring; Appraising; Aggregating; Applying; and Assessing.
To create a foundation for the following lessons in the course, we’ll get you to reflect on what insights focused currently means to you in your context and the extent to which decisions in your work are grounded in evidence-based insights. Remember to make notes in your interactive workbook.
We also encourage you to take part in the community forum which provides the collaborative space to share your thinking and ideas with others. In this lesson we’ll ask you to share a barrier you have you faced in gathering insights and what suggestions you have for overcoming this.
