So, where are we heading in this lesson?
This lesson looks at how the quality of our decisions is affected by our ability to assess all the evidence available in the context of the specific situation.
We’ll illustrate this through a scenario where our subject specialist will talk through potential approaches to a challenge where a people professional is under pressure to make a decision, without fully understanding the situation. This is something many of us will have faced. We’ll ask you to consider your own approach to several scenarios, supporting you with advice.
We’ll get you to reflect individually on a situation where cognitive bias, an error in judgement based on personal subjective view, may have been present in your decision-making. Remember to make notes in your interactive workbook.
We also encourage you to take part in the community forum which provides the collaborative space to share your thinking and ideas with others. In this lesson we’ll ask you to share an example of where you have seen cognitive bias in the people profession, why you think it happens and how the problem could be addressed.
Review what others have posted to gain wider understanding on the theme from people professionals working in different contexts. Support the learning community by reading the contributions of others, 'liking' those you find helpful and add your unique reflections to the conversation.
